We cream, we lather, we shave, we pluck, we lighten, we darken, we camouflage, we hide, we cut off, we stuff it in, we grease it down, we moisturize, we starve ourselves, we over eat..... What are we doing that will cause real change, healthy change in our lives. I OD'd on raisins the other day. I wanted something sweet sooo bad that I started buying boxes of raisins every other day. I should know better right! And I did but there was a void I was trying to fit with those dried up raisins.
Craving for Sweets indicates a need for love. I had to stop this. I had to submerge myself in something that I loved beside sweets. I realized that my love for personal development and "commitment to mastery" was something I loved so much that I'd lose sleep, talk for hours. It gets me excited about living. I always new, before I even knew what a mentor was, that the formulas for success in life existed.
I knew because I saw other around me who had what I wanted. I am passionate about being the best I can be. My want for love.. Its still there but my focus has changed to people, to black women who need ear, who need to talk over there lives with someone who can be objective. You all are my love. So my message today is this. Find another way to feed your needs. Its preferred to finds ways that cannot be rubbed off, shit out or cut off. Let your passions be something that can grow. You put on lipstick today, you eventually have to rub it off. You eat that chocolate cake and eventually it has to come out the other end. But it does nothing for you past the swallow!
We want something more. Something that the cake represents. For me, raisins represented my need to interact with other, I wanted to connect, to feel "full". Accomplishments give me fullness too. I had to look for something to do that would give me that satiated feeling. Find what is lacking in your life and fill it. Create little missions to occupy your time. It could be anything, reading a book, sewing an outfit, researching a project, answering phone calls for business, talking to your children etc. Just let it be exciting experience past the swallow!
