So u Want to be a bride?

 Do u even know why you want a white wedding dress? That trend started with your Queen Victoria. She married Albert of Saxe in 1840 and walked down the aisle in a white satin trimmed with orange flowers. Prior to this the actual common color was blue which signified purity, not white as it is thought today. So if u planning your wedding and feel u have to wear white just cause the Queen did, I 'd say reassess this especially if u look better in red!

 

Queen Victoria’s dress was of rich white satin, trimmed with orange flower blossoms. The headdress was a wreath of orange flower blossoms, and over this a beautiful veil of Honiton lace, worn down.

 Why wear the wedding ring on the third finger of the left hand?

 Its believed that a vein ran fro the directly from the heart to that finger. the ring served to 'hold the love' inside that person and it was said that if the ring was removed all the love would be lost forever!

Ladies do u know why we have the custom of groomsmen and brides maids? Now this is interesting. It was thought in Roman times that by adding 5 usher men and 5 bridesmaids all dressed identical to  the bride and groom that it would confuse the devil so much that he would not be able to identify the real bride and groom, thus disabling his ability to put a curse on the newlywed couple!

It is really interesting to know where these traditions we hold as sacred come from. We don't really have to do these traditions to symbolize our love for someone if we do not want to. If you are a bride.. well u know know you are purchased 'maid'. It does take the sentimentalism out of it for me but then again so many other things have done for me anyway.
